Procedures for
Porting to the Orlando Housing Authority
- Notify your Initial Housing Authority (IHA) to let them know you want
to move to the Housing
Authority of the City of Orlando, Florida.
The Initial Housing Agency (IHA) must mail the
Portable Packet to the Orlando Housing
Authority, 390 N. Bumby Avenue, Orlando, FL 32803 Attention: Admissions
and Occupancy Department. Portable Packets
will not be accepted if hand carried by Participant or
faxed. It may take 2 to 3 weeks
for the Admissions and Occupancy Department to receive your paperwork in
the office. Contact the Admissions Office at 407-894-1500 to see if your information
has been received. You can also check your status via e-mail
tmungen@orl-oha.org.
- You will be given an appointment for an
interview when it has been confirmed that your portable packet has been
received. Interviews are scheduled from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the
address indicated above. You must bring the
following items for your interview:
| Current valid photo identification |
| Birth certificates for everyone in the household |
| Social Security cards for everyone in the household |

Proof of any and all income |
| All adults who are
18 and over and who will be listed
in the family composition must come to the interview |
Other documents may be sent by the IHA; i.e., Photo ID for all adults, birth
certificates, social security cards, income, Declaration of Citizenship,
etc. If these documents are not sent by the IHA to this Agency, the
Participant must provide the information. The Orlando Housing Authority
(OHA) will make sure that all of the documentation, signatures and/or
verification required by this Agency and the United States Department of
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are in the Participant’s file.
No briefing appointment will be given if required documents are missing.

The porting family will be given a map and an
appointment for a briefing/meeting at the offices of the Orlando Housing
Authority after the interview has been completed and
when all of the
documents are in the Participant’s file. The Housing Choice Section 8
Voucher, Request for Tenancy Approval, and other relative notices will be
issued at the Section 8 Portable Briefing. At this time we will
give you the amount of your voucher.

An inspection will be scheduled after
you turn in the completed “Request for Tenancy” packet.
