HUD AWARDS CHOICE NEIGHBORHOOD GRANT TO SANFORD, FLORIDA
Planning grant to kick start revitalization in Goldsboro June 28, 2016 WASHINGTON – U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Julián Castro today granted $500,000 to Sanford Housing Authority as part of $8 million awarded nationwide to 10 severely distressed neighborhoods to stimulate affordable housing and economic development. Funded through HUD’s Choice Neighborhoods Initiative, these awards will help local leaders to craft comprehensive, homegrown plans to revitalize and transform these neighborhoods. Part of the Obama Administration’s effort to build Ladders of Opportunity to the middle class, HUD’sChoice Neighborhoods Initiative promotes a comprehensive approach to transforming neighborhoods struggling to address the interconnected challenges of distressed housing, inadequate schools, poor health, high crime, and lack of capital. MOVING TO WORK PLAN FOR FISCAL YEAR 2020/YEAR 9 (APRIL 1, 2019 TO MARCH 31, 2020)

The Orlando Housing Authority (OHA) is seeking public input on the Moving to Work MTW) Fiscal Year (FY) 2020/Year 9 Plan. The Plan describes OHA’s MTW Program activities designed to (1) increase self‐sufficiency among families served, (2) reduce costs and achieve greater cost effectiveness in Federal expenditures, and (3) increase housing choices for low‐income families.  RENTAL ASSISTANCE DEMONSTRATION (RAD) AT LAKE MANN APARTMENTS, GRIFFIN PARK APARTMENTS, IVEY LANE HOMES, REEVES TERRACE, AND LORNA DOONE APARTMENTS AND THE INCLUSION OF DEMOLITION PLANS AT LAKE MANN & GRIFFIN PARK APARTMENTS

(APRIL 1, 2018 TO MARCH 31, 2019)

 

The Orlando Housing Authority (OHA) is seeking public input regarding the addition to its Moving to Work (MTW) Fiscal Year (FY)2019/Year 8 Plan. The public comment period will begin Monday, May 28, 2018 and end Thursday, June 28, 2018.  A public hearing will be held Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the OHA’s Administration Office, 390 N. Bumby Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32803.  The OHA’s Board of Commissioners will receive verbal and/or written comments on the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Significant Amendment at Lake Mann Apartments, Griffin Park Apartments, Ivey Lane Homes, Reeves Terrace, and Lorna Doone Apartments and the demolition of Lake Mann Apartments and Griffin Park Apartments.

 

The RAD Significant Amendment and demolition plans are included in the MTW FY2019/Year 8 Plan, which will be available for review commencing Monday, May 28, 2018, on the OHA website at www.orl-oha.org and at the addresses listed below (10:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday):

The mission of the Orlando Housing Authority (OHA) is “To offer a choice of safe and affordable housing options and opportunities for economic independence for residents of Orlando and Orange County.” The OHA strives to provide housing options that are decent, safe, and sanitary at an economical cost.

Purpose: The purpose of the non-smoking policy is to improve indoor air quality in public housing, benefit the health of public housing residents and OHA staff, reduce the risk of catastrophic fires, and lower overall maintenance costs. Read More ….

The Orlando Housing Authority (OHA) will have new office hours beginning May 1, 2018.  Please note the change in operating hours for the following OHA offices:  Admissions, Housing Choice Voucher/Section 8, Portability and Public Housing.
